Little Shop of Horrors at SRRHS Theatre!
by Breanna Haas
It’s hard to catch a Broadway musical in Sedona, Arizona. We’re a bit off the beaten trail for the national tours. And, it’s quite a production to put together a large cast, crew, and pit orchestra in red rock country.

But that’s just what they’ve done at Sedona Red Rock High School – and with great success!
The Broadway hit, Little Shop of Horrors, will be presented at the comfortable Sedona Red Rock High School Theatre, April 10-13.
Besides a knock-out cast, the show will feature the Broadway caliber puppet, known as Audrey II; it was quite an undertaking to get the prop to Sedona.

“It’s like the circus is coming to our school,” said Terry Bramwell, director and theater department head. “We’re really excited to have raised the money to rent such an impressive stage prop; our students get the opportunity to make her come to life. The technical crew really has their work cut out for them.”
Audrey II is arriving on March 24, in a huge moving truck, “because she is a big girl,” said Bramwell.

The leads are strong, both vocally and theatrically, including Pat Fleischmann, Taylor Carr, Peter Fabrizi, and Ian Byer. The famous street girls are deliciously portrayed by Isabella DeLuz, Anna Perry, and Kaia Placa.
This story revolves around Seymour Krelborn, the clumsy employee of Mushnik’s Flower Shop, on Skid Row, where he daydreams of Audrey, his ever-so-cute co-worker.
When business takes a downturn, Audrey II is brought in to attract customers, turning Mushnik’s business into the Little Shop of Horrors.
Whether you saw this show on Broadway or not, you’re going to love this production.
Shows on April 10, 11, and 12 are at 7:00 p.m.; the April 13 production is a 2:00 p.m. matinee.
Tickets are $8, and are on sale at all three of the district’s schools. For more information, call 204-6700.
